On October 28th, the Meeting of the Parties (MOP) to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer is taking place in Bangkok, Thailand at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

Now in its 36th year, it aims to continuously review the progress and achieve the goals of the Montreal Protocol.

We are delighted to announce that two A-Gas team members are presenting at this year’s event. They will be taking part in the Workshop on Lifecycle Refrigerant Management, arranged by the Ozone Secretariat, on Sunday the 27th of October, followed by its own side event Incentivising Private Investment in Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM) on Wednesday the 30th of October.

Elvira Nigido, A-Gas’ Group Sustainability Manager, was a contributor to the Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM) Task Force report earlier this year and will participate in Session Three: Deep Dive into Lifecycle Refrigerant Management – Recovery, Recycling and Reclamation.

Not only presenting, she will be part of a break-out group covering those three elements in-depth, with the other panellists providing expert insight into existing and emerging technologies, industry best practices, challenges and more.

Following that, Louise McCann, Group Commercial Director, will be join the panel for Session Four: Financing Lifecycle Refrigerant Management. This discussion will focus on the requirement for substantial financial investment in LRM. It will analyse the costs and resources involved and the various business models and monetary options that could be adopted to ensure fast, effective and sustainable implementation.

A-Gas’ side event, Incentivising Private Investment in Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM) will detail A-Gas’ experiences on how it makes financial decisions around LRM, including where it invests money and how it aims to help establish a “circular model” in different countries.

As always, A-Gas is looking forward to showcasing its technology and processes.

By recovering and reclaiming used refrigerant and re-purposing it back to the market, we help customers navigate the supply and demand imbalances that arise from phasedowns.

This encourages the circular economy and extends the lifetime of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. A-Gas ensures an adequate supply of refrigerants while minimising the risk of emissions.

Where no future reuse is possible, we safely destroy used refrigerants using our United Nations-approved, Technical Economic and Assessment Panel (TEAP)-certified PLASMA Arc technology.

A-Gas is excited to meet many existing partners and experts at the MOP and discuss how collaboration can achieve the aims of the Montreal Protocol through Lifecycle Refrigerant Management.
