Towards Zero, Together | A-Gas Sustainability Report 2023

Over the last 31 years, A-Gas has become a market leader in Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM). We recover, reclaim and repurpose or safely destroy used refrigerant gases that are either ozone-depleting, global warming or both.

Increasing their circularity and minimising the risk of venting them to the atmosphere while supporting the transition to lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant replacements is paramount to our business strategy.

Responsible refrigerant management is critical to the future of our industry and global communities. As the planet’s temperature increases, the demand for cooling and heating technology grows, so it is imperative that industry and end users move to more environmentally responsible practices. At A-Gas we help facilitate this.

Helping the Industry Embrace Circular Economy Principles

As more quotas and refrigerant phasedowns come into effect worldwide, industries and companies will need to think more carefully about the gases they can use, access in future and handle. This is where the opportunity for increased refrigerant circularity economy is most impactful.

By embracing circular economy principles, the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC-R) industry and end users can reduce emissions from their equipment. Recovering used gas at equipment end of life and reclaiming it instead of relying solely on virgin products is a great first step.

Where no future reuse is possible, safely destroying these gases is the best way to ensure that they no longer pose a risk to the atmosphere.

Protecting and Enhancing the Environment

Our purpose is central to what we do here at A-Gas:

To protect and enhance the environment by effectively managing the lifecycle of refrigerants to build a sustainable future.

LRM offers both the industry and wider global communities a potentially huge opportunity. By investing in equipment, processes and people that can deliver expert products and services, A-Gas plays a part in helping to maximise these prospects and developing a responsible way forward for the industry.

A Message From Elvira Nigido, Group Sustainability Compliance Manager

A-Gas is committed to being part of the solution. Working together with industry partners, governments and other organisations proactively advocating for LRM and implementing positive end-to-end solutions on the ground is crucial. While there is plenty more work to be done, I am proud to be part of an organisation that is truly impactful in mitigating the ozone and climate change challenges through responsible LRM as we transition to lower GWP refrigerants.
