A-Gas, a global market leader in the supply and lifecycle management of refrigerants and associated products, has signed up its Green House Gas (GHG) emission targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This initiative provides a clearly defined path for A-Gas to reduce its emissions in line with the latest climate science to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.
By joining the SBTi, A-Gas reaffirms its commitment to reducing its GHG emissions and realising its purpose of protecting and enhancing the environment by effectively managing the lifecycle of refrigerants to build a sustainable future. The company has set an ambitious target of reaching net-zero by 2035, intending to achieve a 50% emission reduction by 2028.
These ambitious targets bring the company’s stated emission reduction ahead of those mandated by the SBTi. Kicking off a two-year process to have targets and emission reduction plans validated and approved by SBTi, to meet all current and future regulatory reporting requirements.
A-Gas’s 'Towards Zero, Together' pledge operates worldwide and encompasses the company’s dedication to reducing all potential emissions of refrigerant vented to the atmosphere through its Products and Services, such as its Refrigerant Recovery Services.
A-Gas Group CEO, Jack Govers, commented, “We understand that addressing climate change requires collective action and unwavering commitment beyond mere rhetoric. I am delighted to commit our GHG emissions reduction plans to SBTi, which directly aligns with our goal of becoming a net-zero organisation.”
